KOZHIKODE: It has been reported that the accused Mujeeb Rehman, accused in the Perampra Anu murder case, had targeted other victims. The police got information that the accused had visited two other places near Valoor. A woman residing in the area informed the police about the incident.

Mujeeb Rehman killed Anu at the narrow road in Valoor on March 11 at around 10 am. The police received information that the accused had planned to commit a similar crime in two alleys in front of this place. A woman informed the police that the accused was found roaming in these areas.

The accused stole a bike from Mattannur at around 3:30 am on that day. However, he reached Valoor only at 9.30 am. The police are investigating where the accused was during these six hours and whether he had committed any other crime.

Anu's body was found 24 hours after she went missing in a stream, just one kilometre away from her house. Mujeeb Rehman, a native of Malappuram, was arrested after the locals gave a statement to the police that they had seen a man riding a red bike in the place with water only below the knees. An investigation later revealed that he is a notorious criminal.

Mujeeb Rehman is accused of committing many crimes earlier also. Along with theft and extortion, the accused followed the method of strategically giving lifts to women in his bike, attacking them, making them unconscious, raping them and stealing the gold. The accused had in 2020 attacked an elderly woman in Omasseri in a similar manner. In the Perampra incident, he beat Anu on her head, made her unconscious and then killed her by stomping her head in the water.

There are indications that he has committed a similar crime in Wayanad as well. Mujeeb, accused in 60 cases including theft and extortion, was convicted in only a few cases.
