KANNUR: A case was registered against a Congress leader on the complaint of PK Indira, wife of LDF convener EP Jayarajan, alleging him of creating a morphed image which shows Indira sitting alongside NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrashekar. The Kannur Valapattanam police registered a case against Thiruvananthapuram DCC member Joseph D'Cruz.

The morphed image appeared on social media just days after the opposition leader and another roster of congress members alleged an unholy nexus and covert business deals between NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrashekar and LDF leader E P Jayarajan.

According to Indira's complaint, Joseph D'Cruz shared the fake picture to deride her family’s stature. Valapattanam police went to Jayarajan's house and recorded Indira's statement. The police will issue a notice to Joseph D'Cruz to appear for questioning.

A case has been registered under the charges of creating provocation with intent to riot, forgery, defamation and deliberately trying to make forged documents appear as real.

Earlier, E P Jayarajan alleged V D Satheesan to be the brain behind the manipulated image now spreading on social media.
