Panoor bomb blast: Three CPM workers arrested, one in custody

KANNUR: Three CPM workers have been arrested in the bomb blast case in Panoor, that took place on Friday noon. Atul, Arun and Shabin Lal were arrested. They were involved in the gang that illegally tried to make a country-made bomb on the terrace of an under-construction house.

All three arrested are CPM workers based in Kunnothuparamba. Police have confirmed that they were present during the incident and also revealed their social media accounts which are replete with election campaigning for CPM.

According to reports, all the four taken into custody had the know-how to make bombs. The arrested ones were stationing the house downstairs while the bomb-making took place on the terrace.

Another CPM worker Sayooj was arrested from Palakkad railway station while trying to escape to Coimbatore.

Vineesh, the son of a local CPM leader in Pannur was seriously injured in the blast and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Panoor Kaivelikkal native Sherin (31) was killed in the incident. CPM workers V.P.Vineesh (36), Vinodhan (38) and Ashwanth (Eldo, 25) were injured in the blast.
