Rahul Gandhi to visit Kejriwal's family; will offer legal support

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday contacted the family of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the phone. According to national media, Rahul has promised all the support of the Congress party to Arvind Kejriwal. Rahul Gandhi will visit Kejriwal's family this morning and discuss the matter of providing legal support.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy scam case yesterday evening. The action came after the Delhi High Court refused to grant Kejriwal any protection from coercive action in the case. The ED arrested Kejriwal after questioning him for around 2 hours at his official residence. Kejriwal, who is currently at the ED headquarters, will produced in court today.

The ED team reached Kejriwal's residence at around 7 pm yesterday. Delhi Police, paramilitary and rapid action forces were deployed to provide them protection. The ED officials entered the residence saying that they arrived to issue a summons to Kejriwal and that they had a search warrant with them. The officials seized Kejriwal's mobile phones, tabs and laptop. The officials interrogated Kejriwal after seizing the phones of his family members, employees and other leaders.
