Youth arrested for possessing unaccounted money of Rs 10 lakh

MALAPPURAM: A youth was arrested in Valanchery for possessing unaccounted money of Rs 10 lakh. The police seized the hawala money from the hands of Abdul Rauf (43), a native of Kaippuram in Palakkad. The investigation team reached the bus stand following a tip-off received by Malappuram district police chief S Sarath. The police arrested the youth during the investigation.

The police said the unaccounted money was brought from Coimbatore to transfer it to various places in Malappuram. The investigation team stated that Abdul Rauf smuggled the money by tying it to a specially prepared bag to his body.

Meantime, the excise team caught a youth of the quotation team with ganja and chemicals in Ottapalam. The arrested is Baburaj (35) of Paruthipra in Pattambi. 5.150 kilograms of ganja and 38.884 grams of methamphetamine were recovered from his house. A case has been registered against the youth by the narcotic cell. The accused was produced in the court and remanded.
