THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three women officials of the Home Department have been suspended for delay in handing over related documents despite CBI taking over the death of JS Siddharth, a second year student of Pookode Veterinary College. The suspended are Deputy Secretary Prashantha, Section Officer Bindu and Assistant Anju of the Home Department. The action was taken against them on the instructions of the Chief Minister. The suspension was because the explanation given by them to the Home Secretary was not satisfactory.

The order related to this was issued on March 9. But they did not prepare the proforma report of the investigation. The rule is that the translation of the FIR should be in proforma and the documents should be delivered to Delhi by a DySP. But there is also an allegation that the preparation of the proforma started only on the last day.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told Siddhath's father Jayaprakash that the case will be handed over to the CBI. The government highlighted this as a big achievement. Through CBI probe, the government was trying to overcome the allegation that the they are trying to save the accused who are SFI activists. But it is now coming out that despite the case being handed over to the CBI, there is a delay in submitting the report to the Centre. In the meantime, Jayaprakash had a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan alleging that the investigation into the death of his son is being hampered. He also responded that if there is no progress in the investigation, he will stage a strike in front of Cliff House.
