KANHANGAD: A Plus Two student's jaw was broken by his classmates for not participating in the Holi celebration. K P Nived Babu, a Plus Two science student of Madikkai GHSS, was brutally beaten up. He underwent surgery yesterday at the Pariyaram Government Medical College.

The Hosdurg police registered a case against four students who are residents of Ajanur in Kanhangad under various sections. They are in hiding. Since they are school students, steps have been taken to obtain their age-proof certificates. A four-member gang led by Plus Two Commerce students attacked Nived last Saturday. After the final exam, while waiting for the bus to go home, the group forced him to participate in the Holi celebration. Nived did not show interest. With this, the group took Nived pretending to talk to him and attacked him.

Nived's father, Babu, is a driver. He underwent angioplasty two years ago and is currently resting after sustaining a rib injury in an accident. Mother Lekha works in a dance school in Kanhangad. This is the only source of income for the family.

All four accused are minors and are being searched for. A report will be given to the concerned authorities to take action if required for a ragging case.
