MALAPPURAM: Kerala is yet to recover from the shock of the death of two-and-a-half-year-old Fathima Nasrin, who died after being brutally beaten by her father. Now, Shahabanath, the child's mother, has made shocking revelations about the incident. Shahabanath said that she was very disappointed that she was not able to prevent her husband Muhammad Fayiz from brutally beating their daughter. She said that she was also subjected to brutal assault whenever she tried to protect her child from Fayis's beating.
"Fayis forcefully covered the child's mouth and strangled her. He then took her and hit her on the shelf. He continued to brutally beat her until foam started coming out of her mouth. Fayis and his family raised my daughter by keeping her away from me as much as possible. He used to constantly torture me. Although I complained to the police multiple times, he forced me to withdraw them by beating me. He then started torturing the child. Fayis's sister and husband also live in the same house. Nobody was ready to prevent Fayis from attacking my child and me," Shahabanath said.
Unable to bear her husband's torture, Shahabanath took the child to her home. However, the two returned to her husband's house last month. Meanwhile, Shahabanath's mother Ramlath also made some revelations. She alleged that it was the police who forced her to send Shahabanath and her child along with Fayis. According to Ramlath, the police officers intervened in the matter by saying that women should stay at their husbands' homes after getting married
On Saturday, Fayis brought the child to the hospital on the pretext that she had food stuck in her throat. The child died before reaching the hospital. However, more information about the child's death came out after the post-mortem report surfaced. As per the post-mortem report, injuries on the head and chest led to the child's death. The report also stated that there was a blood clot in the head and a fractured rib. Following this, the police registered a case of unnatural death and took Muhammad Fayiz into custody.
