THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is burning in extreme heat. The torpid summer that kickstarted back in February is showing no signs of stopping down. The state is now getting an additional two to three degrees of heat than the normal temperature range, and this is unprecedented. The Meteorological Center has issued a warning that the heat will continue to be severe in the coming days.
The Meteorological Center has warned that high temperatures will continue till Sunday. The temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius in many places in central Kerala. In terms of temperature, Palakkad tops the list every year unrivalled. But this year, another district took the baton from Palakkad for being the hottest district in Kerala, and it is Thrissur. On Wednesday, Thrissur recorded the highest temperature in the state. As per warnings from IMD, the district will touch 40 degrees’ Celsius heat in the coming days. The temperature in Kollam and Palakkad is also likely to rise to 39 degrees Celsius.
It is predicted that hot weather will continue in the state till March 31, except for the hilly areas. In the eastern parts of Pathanamthitta district, the temperature rose to 38 degrees Celsius.
