THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against Sreejith for hurling abuse at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. SR Sreejith has been sitting in a solitary protest, in front of Kerala's state secretariat since 22 May 2015. Sreejith has been long demanding an independent inquiry into his brother Sreejeev’s death, which he alleges to be a result of custodial torture.

According to police, Sreejith blared abuse at the chief minister through a microphone and it is also alleged that the youngster made a casteist remark at the CM.

Earlier it was announced that the CBI would not investigate the death of Sreejeev, a native of Neyyattinkara, who was brutally beaten while in police custody. The CBI has issued a letter rejecting the Kerala government's request to investigate the case. On December 12, the Union Ministry of Personnel issued a letter clarifying this to the state government.

The State Police Complaints Authority, which investigated the case, had found that Sreejeev was beaten up by the then Parassala CI Gopakumar and ASI Philippos and they also found the involvement of civil police officers Pratapachandran and Vijayadas in the crime.

The State Police Complaints Authority also found SID Bijukumar doctoring the details in Mahazar.
