THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police are looking to find the members of the gang that led to the death of a Malayali couple and their friend in a hotel room in Arunachal Pradesh. After examining the circumstantial evidence, both Arunachal and Kerala police teams have reached the conclusion that superstition like satan worship was the reason behind the death of the three. The police teams are trying to find the gangs that operate around the Beau Pine Hotel in Ziro Valley in Itanagar, where the three stayed.

A three-member team of the Kerala police, including Vattiyoorkavu SI Rakesh, are continuing to investigate in Arunachal. Naveen and Devi have been to Arunachal Pradesh before. The police concluded that there were people in the region who spread such beliefs among people. It was found that Naveen, Devi and Arya had regularly exchanged email messages in code language. Thiruvananthapuram DCP Nidin Raj said that police have checked the emails and chats of the deceased persons and that they did not communicate using their own names. The police also observed that there was a specific reason behind the three choosing Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh as the place of their death. The police have obtained proofs from their laptops that uphold these conclusions. Articles and pictures about extraterrestrial life were obtained from laptops and phones. The police will record the detailed statements of the three family members.

The bodies of the three were brought to Kerala yesterday. The bodies of Devi and Arya were cremated at Saanthi Kavadam in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. Naveen's funeral will be held today at 3 pm at Saint Thomas Orthodox Church Cemetery, Meenadom, Kottayam.

Death caused by bleeding
It was Naveen who slit the wrists of Devi and Arya after getting their consent. He then killed himself in the same way. All three chose death caused by bleeding. They dreamt of extraterrestrial life after learning about it from platforms like the darknet.

Bangles studded with black stones and razor blades
It was found that both Devi and Arya wore bangles studded with black stones at the time of their death. The police are conducting an investigation on those who wear such bangles. Three razor blades used to inflict wounds on the body were also found. The wounds were made using separate blades. The hotel staff told the police that one of the women was lying dead on the bed, the other on the floor and Naveen in the bathroom.
