Yusuff Ali's 'special gift' after getting moved by nine-year-old boy's heartwarming letter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It took just days for business tycoon Yusuff Ali to make Ihsan’s wish come true. The nine-year-old had earlier written to Yusuff Ali detailing his family’s struggle to purchase an insulin pump.

Lulu Group officials came to their home with a new insulin pump for Ihsan, the only son of the Shihabuddin-Bushra couple, natives of Kariavattom. The third grader wrote a letter in English beginning with 'Dearest Yusuff Ali Sir.

The letter written on the 13th of last month was sent to Abu Dhabi. Yusuff Ali intervened in the issue after noticing the letter. Lulu Group Regional Director Joy Shadanandan presented the insulin pump to Ihsan.

Ihsan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was just two and a half years old. He had to seek help from an insulin pump since then. It was not fully functional and the family tried hard to buy a new one but the financial straits proved a hindrance. A pump that controls the blood sugar level of a diabetic patient costs Rs 6 lakh.

Father Shihabuddin said Ihsan decided to write a letter to Yusuff Ali after learning about the family’s financial straits. The insulin pump was purchased after seeking the opinion of Dr. Sheeja Madhavan, who is currently treating Ihsan.

Ihsan’s family heartily thanked the Lulu group and said it was the greatest gift they had received during the holy Ramzan season.
