police

KANNUR: After the arrest of all the accused directly related to the Panoor bomb blast case, the police are investigating those who were part of the conspiracy and helped the accused.

Twelve accused are directly linked to the blast. One of them died and three are under treatment. Chief planners Shijal and Akshay were arrested in Palakkad last day. The police thinks that the accused got the help from even more people to go into hiding and leave the district. Shijal was in Udumalpetta. It was found that Shijal, who was injured in the blast, sought treatment there.

As per indications, they have surrendered as per the instructions of the party to avoid public debate on the incident. The police are investigating where the bomb-making materials were obtained, who delivered them and where they received training to make steel bombs.

Key details has been obtained after grilling DYFI Kunnoth Parambu Unit Secretary Shijal, who is the mastermind behind the bomb-making. All the accused are involved in other criminal cases. Due to this, the police is pushing to impose KAAPA. The CPM defends itself by saying that it was the vendetta between gangs that led to the bomb-making.
