Goonda leader hacked to death in Kochi 

KOCHI: A goonda leader was hacked to death in the district. The incident happened Wednesday early morning at 2 am. The dead is Vinu Vikraman of Thuruthissery. The incident happened at Chengamanad in Kochi. The police have taken one into custody.

Vinu was murdered after picking him up from the bar in an auto. Vinu is an accused in various criminal cases. He is the first accused in the case of hacking to death Binoy alias Gillappi, a goon, at Athani in 2019. Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA) was imposed against Vinu and was banished from the district.

The police said enmity between groups is the cause of murder. Police said the cause of death is the deep injury he sustained on his head.

Meantime, KAAPA was imposed on Shijas Shaji (27) alias Chachu of Kanjirapally, accused in several criminal cases and expelled from the district for nine months. The action was based on the report of district police chief K Karthik. He is the accused in criminal cases of assault, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery and disrupting officials from during their duty.
