THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has sent a legal notice to Shashi Tharoor, the UDF candidate of Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency. A legal notice was sent for false propaganda against him. Tharoor in an interview had said that Rajeev Chandrasekhar woos voters including priests with money. The notice was sent based on this. The notice has asked Tharoor to withdraw the statement.
The notice has asked to withdraw the statement and apologize within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that one should not make a false statement and if there is evidence for the statement, it should be produced. He also pointed out that otherwise it was an attempt to insult from the side of the UDF candidate. He has also approached the election commission. The complaint to the election commission said trying to create division in the society by making false statements.
Meantime, Tharoor has responded that there is no triangular contest in Thiruvananthapuram. Tharoor said that he is facing a challenge from Rajeev Chandrasekhar and he does not even understand why Panniyan Ravindran is contesting.
‘When the campaign started, there was an impression of a triangular contest, but after two to three weeks, things became clear. A big competition is not seen from the side of the LDF. Panniyan is my good friend, he is a good man, but his campaign is not creating much impact. Many people ask why he is competing. The challenge is from the NDA itself. Their campaigning is energetic and professional. However, many of the things they say are not true,’ said Tharoor.
