Gang members torture teen, unleash terror in Kerala; police arrest three after video goes viral

KAYAMKULAM: Police on Sunday arrested three notorious goons for abducting one youngster and attempting to murder him near a deserted railway station. Anoop Shankar (28), his brother Abhimanyu alias Sagar (24) and Amal alias Chintu (24) were arrested by police. Another accused Rahul is still at large.

Arun Prasad (26) of Prasad Bhavan in Kappil was subjected to brutal torture by the hooligans. The police have recovered the footage of this incident from the phone of the accused. The same has now gone viral on social media. On the 16th of May at 1 pm, the demonic act took place in the ground north of Akkanad Colony and near the deserted railway track.

The four-member gang tortured Arun using stones, sticks and even machetes. The diaphragm of Arun’s left ear was ruptured in the incident. Arun’s iPhone and Titan watch were seized by the gang. According to police, the gang engaged in a bitter verbal spat with Arun just two days back. Arun complained about the incident to Oachira police and the mobile phone of one of the accused was seized by officials. This led to anger among the gang members and they set their eyes on Arun with intentions to kill.

The first accused Anoop Shankar is accused in 17 cases. He and his brother Abhimanyu have been jailed under the KAAPA Act. Amal has been deported from the Alappuzha district under the KAAPA Act. The police have intensified the investigation for the third accused Rahul.
