Class in hot summer: Prohibition applicable to tuition centres as well

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty informed in a press conference that the decision of the General Education Department to avoid classes during extreme heat applies to all educational institutions, including tutorial and tuition centres.

Many parents have complained that classes are held in unaided schools even in hot summer. The government is the authority that gives NOC to unaided schools. Hence instructions has to be followed by them as well. Classes can be held in the morning from 7 to 10 and in the evening. Strict action will be taken classes are conducted during extreme heat.

Working hours have been adjusted due to the possibility of a heat wave. The Minister also informed that the Labor Commissioner has been instructed to take strict action against the employer if the workers are found working between twelve and three in the afternoon.
