Four youths fined and assigned hospital service for reckless driving

CHARUMOODU: The motor vehicle department has given punishment of one week of hospital service to four youths for dangerous ride in an Innova car.

Afthali Ali, Bilal Nazar, Mohammad Najad and Fajaz, natives of Adikkattukulangara and Shooranad, have to serve in the ortho and emergency departments of Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for four days from Monday. For the next three days, they should provide inmates of Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan with necessary services. The action was taken by Mavelikkara Joint RTO MG Manoj.

Their recklesness was on KP Road last Sunday afternoon when they were returning after attending a wedding. After the visuals of the same circulated on social media, the car and its occupants were found and the car was impounded. The license of Al Khalid bin Zajir, who was driving the car, was cancelled. A fine of Rs 2000 was also imposed.

Under the revised Motor Vehicle Act, it has been proposed to impose social service in addition to imposing fines for dangerous driving. After completing the social service, the certificate from the same should be submitted to the Motor Vehicle Department.

Praise by the minister

Minister KB Ganesh Kumar and MS Arun Kumar MLA called and congratulated Mavelikkara Joint RTO MG Manoj for identifying the youths who traveled dangerously and assigning them for social service.
