Sixth class boy dies after ball hits his private part while playing cricket

MUMBAI: An eleven-year-old boy died after the ball hit his private part while playing cricket. The incident happened last Thursday at Lohegaon in Pune. The dead is Shaurya Kalidas Khandve, studying in the sixth standard and a student of New English School, Ramanbaug. CCTV footage has surfaced of the boy playing cricket with his friends and then fainting with the ball.


The incident happened at the Jagatguru Sports Academy Ground in Lohegaon on Thursday night at around 9 pm. Shaurya was bowling. Meanwhile, the batter was seen hitting the ball towards Shaurya. The speeding ball hit Shaurya's private part with force and he immediately fell unconscious. He was then taken to the hospital but was confirmed dead. Besides his parents, he has a brother also.


Police registered a case of accidental death in the incident and started investigation. Officials said the cause of death will be known only after getting the post-mortem report. His relatives said Shaurya had dreams of becoming a wrestler and was training for it.
