MANNARKKAD: A massive fire erupted at the chicken farm owned by Faisal, situated in Kandamangalam Panampalli Ariyur, resulting in the death of 3000 chickens. The fire broke out around 10:30 on Monday night when no workers were present on the premises. Guest workers who heard the sound of chicks alerted the owner.

To mitigate the heat, the farm had coconut and coir sheets beneath the tin roof. Fire officials determined that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the outdated wiring system, which operated continuously.

The fire force from Mannarkkad Vattambalam promptly responded, and after more than an hour and a half of effort, they successfully extinguished the fire. Senior Fire and Rescue Officer in Charge, G. Ajeesh, along with Fire and Rescue Officers V. Suresh Kumar, R. Sreejesh, K. Prashant, Shajith, Shobin Das and Fire and Rescue Officer Driver T. Sandeep, participated in the rescue operation. The owner estimated the damage to be over 10 lakh rupees.
