Is Kejriwal INDIA bloc's PM candidate? Here is Delhi CM's response

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday responded to a question on whether he will be the prime ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc. While answering media queries, Arvind Kejriwal has said that he is not running for the Prime Minister’s post on behalf of the INDIA Bloc in the Lok Sabha polls. At the same time, Kejriwal added that he is confident that no party in the INDIA bloc would oppose his announcement to open schools and hospitals.

He was speaking at a press conference held after a meeting with AAP MLAs. Kejriwal also announced ten promises that AAP will implement if it wins the elections. The Delhi Chief Minister also said that if the opposition coindimes to power, they will ensure that these are implemented.

“The public will decide whether to trust PM Modi’s guarantee or Kejriwal’s guarantee. PM Modi had guaranteed that Rs 15 lakh would be deposited in everyone’s account, which he did not fulfil. PM Modi guaranteed that two crore jobs would be created every year, which he did not fulfil. PM Modi guaranteed the implementation of the Swaminathan report to ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce, which he shelved after becoming PM. He also guaranteed that every household in the country would have 24-hour electricity by 2022, but many cities still face electricity issues with prolonged power cuts,” the Delhi Chief Minister added.

“I feel that the PM will not prevent the 75-year rule from being applicable on himself at any cost. In that case, he can say that the rule was for L.K. Advani. The PM will retire. My only wish is that he should announce his successor or else there will be a tussle within his party,” he said.

Kejriwal announced 10 guarantees by AAP in the elections, six of which were previously announced by Sunita Kejriwal, the Delhi CM’s wife, at the INDIA bloc’s Ramlila Maidan rally on March 31.

Uninterrupted power supply and free electricity for the poor, which, he said, will cost Rs 2.25 lakh crore are among his guarantees. He also promised to bring education in government schools at par with private schools “like in Delhi and Punjab”.
