Jagan Mohan Reddy or Chandrababu Naidu? Andhra voters to write verdict today; Notable competitions in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections

ys-sharmila-

Continued rule of Jagan Mohan Reddy or return of Chandrababu Naidu? Andhra will write its judgment today to answer the question. In Andhra, where the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are held together, the results are unpredictable.

On one side is Jaganmohan Reddy's YSRCP, which is contesting alone. TDP, Jana Sena and BJP alliance on the other side. The TDP joined the NDA only months before the elections. YS Sharmila is with Congress. CPM and CPI parties, which are part of India Front, are also present.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah came to Andhra requesting votes for the NDA alliance, Rahul Gandhi came to give strength to Sharmila, in the elections to be held in the 10th year of Andhra state formation. Andhra is a state where caste politics and money dictate the course. TDP and YSRCP, which highlight their achievements, campaigned on the defensive this time.

The failure to achieve the goal of special status for Andhra even ten years after the bifurcation of the state, the delay in shifting the capital from Amaravati, allegations of corruption against Jagan and Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy in connection with the murder of YS Rajasekhara Reddy's brother and former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, and allegations of corruption are all reasons for YSRCP to worry.

A question is raised within the TDP about how much credibility the BJP's allegations against Jagan, who helped them in Parliament for the last five years, have. Naidu's challenge is to convince people about the corruption cases against him and the subsequent arrest.

YSRCP is hoping that the minority votes will be concentrated in their favour. The NDA reckons that the Kamma community, which is the backbone of the TDP, and the Kapu community, which includes Pawan Kalyan, can make gains when united. Congress activities were focused at Kadapa.
