THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) conducted a driving test under police guard at Muttathara, Thiruvananthapuram amid protests. Three people came for the driving test in Muttathara today. One came for the car test and two came for the two-wheeler test. The protestors stopped those who arrived but the test was conducted under police protection.
All Kerala Motor Vehicle Department Gazetted Officers Association State General Secretary AS Vinod, who arrived with his children in a car was stopped by the school owners. The police pushed the protesters away and let them inside. All three who appeared for the test failed. The school owners clapped and howled after the failed tests.
Later, the protestors cheered in front of the vehicles. This is the first time in the last ten days that the test is being held at Muttathara. There is widespread protest against the unscientific driving test reform.
AS Vinod has complained to Valiyathura Police alleging that he and his daughter, who came for the test, were stopped and abused. The test has been suspended in many places in the state today. Meanwhile, as part of intensifying the strike, the Joint Strike Committee marched to the Secretariat.
