Husband stabs wife to death on busy road in Cherthala

CHERTHALA: In a shocking incident, a woman was stabbed to death on a busy road by her husband. The incident took place near Pallichantha in Pallippuram in Cherthala at around 6.30 pm today. The deceased has been identified as Pallippuram native Ambili. Ambili was stabbed by her husband Rajesh near Pallichantha.

Ambili was returning home on her two-wheeler when Rajesh hit her from behind with his motorbike. He then took a knife from his pocket and stabbed Ambili. Although Ambili was soon rushed to the KVM Hospital in Cherthala, her life could not be saved. Rajesh fled the spot immediately after the incident. He also took Ambili's collection bag and collection machine with him. Police have started a search to find him. They have received Rajesh's mobile phone from the spot of the incident.

Ambili was a collection agent at Thirunallur Service Co-operative Bank. Rajesh is an employee of the Water Transport Department. According to sources, the couple had been living separately following some family issues. Ambili's body has been shifted to the Alappuzha Medical College for post-mortem. It will be handed over to her relatives tomorrow. Children: Rajalakshmi, Rahul.
