Police, who helped Rahul in Pantheerankavu domestic violence case, suspended

KOZHIKODE: Senior civil police officer Sarath Lal, who helped Rahul P Gopal, the accused in the Pantheerankavu domestic violence case, has been suspended. The action was taken after understanding that he helped Rahul to leave the country. He was on GD duty at Pantheerankavu station on the day of the incident.


Sarath Lal informed Rahul, the move to charge him with murder attempt. Reports said that he helped Rahul and Rajesh to cross the check post after evading the police. He also met the two while they were on their way to Bengaluru. The investigation team is examining his call records in detail. The complainant and her family members had earlier alleged that the suspect got help from Pantheerankavu police.

Meantime, Rahul P Gopal's mother Usha from Pantheerankavu Panniyoorkulam and sister Karthika from Thiruvangoor filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kozhikode District Court. The plea will be considered on Monday. Feroke assistant commissioner Saju K Abraham, the head of the investigation team had issued a notice asking both of them to appear for questioning on Friday. Usha, had informed her inconvenience citing health issues. She is presently undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital.
