'Expectations sky high, so little nervous'; actor Mammootty's viral speech

Megastar Mammootty’s latest release ‘Turbo’ will hit theatres on Thursday. The movie has already ignited high expectations for the power combo writer-director pair of Midhun Manuel Thomas and Vysakh. Turbo also has the distinction of being Vysakh's third film with Mammootty after Pokiriraja and Madhuraraja.

As part of the promotion works, Mammootty was in Dubai and now his speech at the event has gone viral.

Mammootty:

“We are still not sure what genre the movie is. The is not just a mass film. The move happened naturally. The mass and class scenes are arranged in such a way as to appeal people from all strata. People have high expectations and this has led to our team becoming nervous. Whatever it be, the arrow has been released from the bow, and we hope that it hits the target. “

Mammootty also responded to a quirky question from the media about his biggest addiction from the three; that is cinema, coolers and cars. The actor never had to wait as he curtly said “cinema”. “Coolers, cars and everything came to me through cinema”.

Another question reached Mammootty about his recent successful run and the complacency factor:

“I approach every movie as my first one and won't revel in my movies' success. So it is easy for me. My career spans around 42 years not all of my films are successful. I can’t just stay at home sitting nervous about my upcoming movie's success. Good or not, I should do movies to survive and take forward my life. Even in adverse situations, we take forward our life, cinema is also like that.

Apart from friendship, I select movies based on the script. If my friends in the industry come with a stellar script it will be an icing on the cake. I can do the movie with extra confidence and comfort. Malayalam cinema can only change when the audience changes. If they appreciate a new trend in filmmaking, the industry as a whole will adopt newer ways. It is the people who determine the success of a movie.”
