Nambi Rajesh's wife Amrita meets CM Pinarayi Vijayan, files complaint

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family of Amrita on Tuesday complained to the chief minister of Kerala about the inefficiency of Air India which prevented her from visiting Nambi Rajesh for one last time. Amrita suffered heartbreak and was denied travel to Muscat at the last minute due to the surprise protest by Air India staff. She was going to meet her husband Nambi Rajesh, whose health was deteriorating. Nambi Rajesh died on May 13th.

Amrita, her children and other family members met Minister Sivankutty around 7 am on Tuesday in connection with the death of her husband Nambi Rajesh. After the meeting, the family visited the chief minister. The family has decided to submit a petition to the Governor, the Leader of the Opposition and the Union Aviation Minister, seeking their intervention in the matter. The petition states that assistance should be provided to obtain compensation from Air India Express and assistance from the state government.

Air India officials have already contacted Amrita’s family and requested them to send all queries through e-mail. After sending an e-mail to the airline demanding compensation, Amrita and her family submitted a petition to the Chief Minister.

Rajesh collapsed at work in Muscat on the 7th of this month. Amrita and her mother Chitra booked tickets for Air India Express on May 8th to meet her husband. But it was only after reaching the airport that they understood about the surprise protest. The airline promised to provide a ticket for Amrita the next day but the company failed to walk their talk.

Rajesh, who came to know about the incident asked the family to not worry and gave word about visiting his hometown the following week. However, on May 13th what reached Amrita was the death news of Nambi Rajesh.
