KOLLAM: A court has granted permission for an accused in the Uthra murder case to go abroad under strict conditions. It was Punalur First Class Magistrate Court Judge Asha Mariam Mathews who granted permission to Surya, the sister of Uthra's husband Sooraj, to go abroad in search of a job.

In her petition, Surya stated she is unable to get a job within the country as she is an accused in the case. She also pointed out that her father was bedridden after suffering a stroke. The petition stated that Surya should be allowed to take a passport to seek employment abroad. Although the prosecution opposed the plea, the court granted Surya permission to travel abroad under strict conditions.

The conditions put forward by the court are that Surya should produce documents related to her job abroad, the details of her residence and the employer's information.
