Youths stranded in Attappadi Kattimala rescued; arrest for entering prohibited area

PALAKKAD: Four youths who entered the forest illegally and got stranded on the mountain have been rescued. The youths got trapped in Attappadi Kattimala in Palakkad. The youths from Malappuram Melattur reached the mountain the other day. The group, who came to see the forest, lost their way and got stuck in Kattimala. The incident happened last night at around 9. The youths were rescued jointly by the police, fire force and forest department officials, who came on being informed.

The youths got stuck following the heavy rains that lashed the place. The locals passed the information to the police. Ashkar, Salman, Sehanuddin and Mahesh of Melattur were rescued from the forests.

The rescue operations were under the leadership of Agali circle inspector. The police informed that all the four youths are safe and there are no injuries. Meantime, a case was registered against the youths for entering the prohibited area. They have been arrested and taken into custody. The police said that they will be produced before the Attappadi First Class Magistrate Court today.
