Padmaja Venugopal likely to be made Chattisgarh Governor; decision after poll results

THRISSUR: Reports said Padmaja Venugopal, who left the Congress and joined the BJP before the elections, will be considered for the post of Governor of Chhattisgarh. The BJP leadership unofficially said the decision will be made as soon as the election results are out. Padmaja said that she heard about this from many sources but has not got any confirmation. She said that she is sure that BJP will do good for her. She added that she will not be ignored like her old party.

Biswabhusan Harichandan is presently the Governor of Chhattisgarh. He is likely to step down due to health issues. There were hints that the leadership had given promises to Padmaja to join the BJP. The leadership assess that Padmaja leaving the Congress and joining the BJP has benefited the party. Padmaja was active in in the election campaign of Suresh Gopi in Thrissur.

Padmaja said that she left the party because she was upset at the congress for continuously sidelining her. There is only one answer to those who ask why BJP, that is Modiji. Modiji's family is India. Padmaja also said the children here are his children. Padmaja had also said that when she joined the BJP, she felt like that she got the shade and protection of a father.
