Teen seriously injured after being hit by express train in Varkala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youngster while attempting to cross tracks was hit by a speeding express train in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. Akhil, a native of Neyyattinkara, was injured in the accident that took place in Varkala.

It is reported that the youngster was hit by the Bengaluru Express heading towards Bengaluru from Kanyakumari. The teen was seriously injured in the tragedy and is now under treatment at Taluk Hospital Varkala.

In another news, it was reported that a robbery was carried out by spraying chilli powder in Varkala. The chilli powder was sprayed on the eyes of an elder woman and her necklace was stolen in the incident. Omana (60), a native of Varkala Panthuvila faced the attack at 5:45 am on Monday.

Omana was in the washroom outside her house in the early morning hours, when the culprit ambushed her with the chill powder. The man was wearing a mask to veil his face and Omana screamed in fear. The other members couldn't come out of the house as the culprit had already tampered with the lock of the main door. At this time, he snatched away the gold necklace from the woman’s neck and fled away.
