MUMBAI: It is alleged that the doctor, who tampered with the blood sample results in a bid to save the minor boy involved in the infamous Porsche accident, received Rs three lakhs as a bribe. The peon who acted as an intermediary in the deal was arrested recently.

Doctors Ajay Tawade and Hari Harnor of Sasoon Hospital were arrested on Monday for doctoring with the blood sample reports. These doctors trashed the original blood sample report and sent another one to deceive the officials into believing that the minor boy was not drunk. The whole fraud came to light during the DNA test conducted. It was peon Atul Namdev Ghatkamble, who took a bribe from the family as an intermediary to save the 17-year-old boy from the clutches of law.

Dr. Tawade is the head of the forensic lab at Sassoon Hospital. After the arrest, the phones of the two doctors were seized. It was found that Dr. Tawade and the 17-year-old driver’s father had a conversation on the phone during the night of the accident.

The first blood sample test of the youth showed he was not drunk, which led to many contrary opinions as the CCTV footage from the bar earlier proved that the minor boy was drunk. This left the officials nonplussed and they proceeded with a DNA test when the whole sham came to light.
