Theft at gunpoint in Kochi again, rob iPhone and money; three-member team held

KOCHI: A robbery at gunpoint again in the district has been reported. The incident happened at Metro Lodge in Ernakulam South at around 11 pm last night. A three-member gang were arrested for allegedly robbing at gunpoint.

A man who sells lottery were staying in the lodge. There was a fight between him and the accused. The dispute was over parking of a vehicle. In a fit of rage, the three-member group came to the lodge and threatened him at gunpoint. They snatched his cash of Rs 5500 and iPhone worth Rs 65,000.


When the accused tried to snatch his phone, one of them held his hands. Then another person hit him on his face with an iron box. The lottery seller sustained injuries on his nose. He has been hospitalized.


After the incident, the accused fled from the place. The police took the three into custody after an investigation conducted. They have been remanded. It is heard that the accused are running a spa in Kochi.


Incidents of threats at gunpoint are on the rise in Kochi. A firing was reported in a bar recently. The accused opened fire at the employees of the bar. A four-member team committed the crime.


The accused came to the bar and demanded alcohol. Following a dispute related to this, the accused opened fire at the employees. They later escaped in a car. Sujin Johnson and Akhil Nath, employees of the bar, sustained gunshots.
