THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the counting of votes progresses, the picture is becoming clear in most constituencies in the state. However, the situation in Thiruvananthapuram remains unpredictable. The constituency is witnessing a close fight between NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar and UDF candidate Shashi Tharoor.

As of 11 am, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who has secured 77,320 votes, is leading by 5,783 votes. Tharoor has secured 71,537 votes. LDF candidate Pannyan Raveendran is not even in the picture. He only managed to secure 55,148 votes.

Most exit polls surveys had predicted that Rajeev Chandrasekhar would win in Thiruvananthapuram. Rajeev Chandrasekhar had said yesterday that the NDA government led by Narendra Modi would come to power yet again with a massive majority.

"All exit polls have predicted this victory. The BJP is expected to make an unprecedented breakthrough in South India as well," Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.
