Namesake candidates raise political heat in Attingal; Adoor Prakash loses crucial 2625 votes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The election results in almost all constituencies of Kerala were clear by noon 1 pm, but not that of Attingal. Even after 5 pm on Tuesday evening things were far from settled in the constituency. Despite securing a late wafer-thin margin victory, the UDF candidate was shocked by the shrewd shenanigans of the namesake candidates. Prakashan (1814 votes) and S. Prakashan (811 votes) put the UDF camp on their toes till Tuesday evening.

Adoor Prakash, who won through a close fight till the last moment, got a majority of 685 votes (according to the information made available by the Election Commission so far). On Tuesday, uncertainty loomed after both the UDF and LDF candidates remained at a stalemate with either one of them leading the other by just a few hundred votes. Amidst this, what caught the attention was the votes secured by the namesake candidates.

Meanwhile, T P Shaji, who contested against UDF candidate Shafi Parampil in Vadakara got 3715 votes while another Shafi got 399 votes. KK Shailaja, the namesake candidate of the former minister got 661 votes while another candidate P. Shailaja got 319 votes. K. Sudhakaran, Son of Krishnan secured 1009 votes in Kannur while Sudhakaran Son of P. Gopalan got 896 votes. The two Jayarajans who contested against MV Jayarajan got 488 and 425 votes each.

T. Raghavan son of Vellenkutty who contested against MK Raghavan in Kozhikode got 1018 votes and N. Raghavan got 782 votes. Kozhuvashril Suresh who contested against Kodikunnil Suresh got 856 votes and Suresh Nooranad got 1505 votes. In Thrissur, Sunilkumar son of Prabhakaran got 1952 votes. In Ponnani, Hamza Son of Moidutty got 978 votes and Hamza Kadavandi got 710 votes.
