THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI Thiruvananthapuram District Executive and Alappuzha District Council criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for LDF’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. The leaders attributed LDF's defeat to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's one-sided behaviour.

Some leaders opined that it will not be easy to come back without a change of Chief Minister and the CPI leadership should show the courage to say it. The main reason for the election failure is the arrogance of the Chief Minister. The leaders also said that even after the defeat, the Chief Minister behaved with arrogance.

During the election, the front convener met the BJP leader and it was a setback. The government hated government employees and pensioners. Criticisms were raised in both the meetings that the lack of supplies in SupplyCo and suspension of pensions caused a setback in the elections.

LDF's votes also went to BJP. The Ezhava community distanced itself from the LDF. In many LDF strongholds, BJP got more votes. This should be checked. The leaders pointed out that what LDF needs is a path of reconciliation that can bring all religions and communities together.

In the Alappuzha meeting where the results were reviewed, there was criticism that it was the sentiment against the Chief Minister that was causing ripples in the state during the elections. In the report presented by District Secretary TJ Angelos, the content was that 'the people thought that the Congress was the best to remove BJP from the government and anti-incumbency also reflected in the election'.

No one in the CPM dares to correct the Chief Minister. During the discussion, the members said that bad practices are coming from the Chief Minister's side. Not only the Congress vote but also the basic votes of the Left Front have gone to the BJP. There are still lingering doubts about the defeat of the CPI candidate in Thrissur. The leaders also pointed out the change in ballot paper votes of senior citizens.

Seeing this, the district executive decided that the government should correct it and continue discussions after detailed reports at the constituency level. The CPI state executive meeting will be held today to review the elections. It is reported that the reports from the districts will also be discussed. Meanwhile, party state secretary Binoy Vishwam has not yet responded to the remarks made in the CPI meetings on the election defeat.
