‘Proud to be a part of Modi Govt; will not resign, news incorrect,’ says Suresh Gopi

NEW DELHI: Suresh Gopi, the newly sworn in minister, pooh-poohed the news that he was going to resign his ministerial post. The actor said that he is proud to be a part of the Modi Government and the news of his resignation is grossly incorrect. He clarified this in his Facebook post.

The actor said that a few media platforms are spreading the incorrect news that he was going to resign from the council of ministers of the Modi Government. This is grossly incorrect. It is a matter of pride for me to be a part of the Modi Government and to represent the people of Kerala. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala.

Suresh Gopi was sworn in on Sunday as the Minister of State. However, reports said that he will resign his post following his commitment in films. He has four big budget films in his hand. It was reported that the actor was dissatisfied for not getting a cabinet post.

The BJP state leadership had clarified that the news circulating that Suresh Gopi will resign is totally incorrect. Party state chief K Surendran said that those who haunted Suresh Gopi when he lost earlier are now continuing to haunt him even after he won and became the union minister. The news first circulated that he was made the chairman of Satyajit Ray Film Institute to prevent him from contesting in Thrissur. When he was later made the candidate, a narrative was created that the state element had tried to defeat him. Now creating speculations that he will not take up the post of union minister. Surendran responded that none of this can neither destroy Suresh Gopi nor the BJP.
