TN stops buses from Kerala; passengers dropped on roads at midnight

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) stopped buses going to Bengaluru from Thiruvananthapuram. The passengers including Malayalees were dropped on the road at midnight. MVD's action comes after a controversy over One India Tax.

The incident happened in the Nagercoil area. Passengers including students were dropped on the road in the middle of the night. The MVD officials asked them to continue journey in any other bus. This is not the first time that such an action has taken place from the side of Tamil Nadu.

Buses from Kerala to Tamil Nadu were cancelled en masse the other day. Soon after this, the buses were stopped in the border and students and women were dropped in the middle of the road.

According to One India Tax, interstate bus owners have paid tax. However, the officials of Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Department said this is not enough. This is confusing the bus owners.

The bus owners responded that the services were cancelled when the MVD took the stand of paying a large amount of tax for vehicles not registered in Tamil Nadu. Malayalees are the most affected due to the cancellation of services.

Many go to Bengaluru and other places via Tamil Nadu for educational purposes and work from Kerala. All of them are suffering due to this stand of Tamil Nadu MVD.
