Madavana accident; Driver arrested, one dead and several injured

KOCHI: Bus driver in Madavana private bus accident taken into custody. Pal Pandi, a native of Tamil Nadu, was arrested. He was slightly injured in the accident and was taken into custody after initial treatment. The speeding bus hit a nearby post and overturned. The police arrested the driver based on the statements of locals present at the scene and CCTV footage.

The bus hit the traffic signal, overturned and hit a bike. The bike passenger died. Jijo Sebastian, a native of Idukki Vagamon, died. Many people in the bus were injured. Seven of them were seriously injured. The injured were shifted to hospitals. Rescue operations were carried out by the police and locals.

Kallada bus no. NL 01G 2864, which was going from Bengaluru to Varkala, met with the accident. The bus overturned across the national highway. The reason for the accident was that the bus braked suddenly in an attempt to stop after seeing the red signal. With this, the bus lost control, overturned and hit a bike parked nearby. There were 42 people in the bus.
