Ponnani native dies after middle berth collapses on him in train

MALAPPURAM: A Ponnani native succumbed to injuries on Wednesday while undergoing treatment after a berth collapsed on him during a horrible train journey this month. Maranchery native Ali Khan (62) is the victim of the horrible train tragedy. The accident happened on the night of the 18th of this month.

Ali Khan who was on his way to Delhi was sleeping in the lower berth. At Warangal, Telangana, the middle berth fell broke and fell on his body resulting in a serious neck injury. Ali Khan suffered three broken neck bones and nerve damage. His hands and legs were paralyzed in the incident.

According to reports, Ali Khan was taken to the hospital in Warangal by the railway authorities. He was later shifted to King's Multi-Speciality Hospital in Hyderabad for specialist treatment. A surgery was performed there last Friday, but his life could not be saved. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the relatives.

The body was brought to Ali Khan's house in Maranchery last night. Wife: Shakeela, Daughter: Shaza. Siblings: Hisham, Abdullahkutty, Umar, Bakr, Hawwaumma, Kadija, Maryu. Ali Khan is the brother-in-law of Chekannur Maulavi.
