NEW DELHI: Air India's action of sending an aircraft, which was initially scheduled to take passengers from Newark airport in the USA to Delhi, for flying out the members of the T-20 World Cup-winning Indian squad from Barbados has sparked a controversy. The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought an explanation from Air India on the passenger's complaint. The passengers had denied Air India's claim that it had arranged another flight for them to travel to Delhi.
As per DGCA rules, the airline has no right to cancel scheduled international services. The aircraft can be used for charter service only after arranging an alternative service.
