KOCHI: German luxury car company BMW will launch three new car brands in the Indian market this month. Newly launched are the MINI Cooper S, MINI Countryman Electric and the 5 Series in long-wheelbase (LWB) variants.
MINI Cooper S
The new generation Cooper S hatchback in the ICE variant retains the classic design elements of the Cooper S MINI. The new Cooper S is powered by an updated 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 204 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. It has round headlights, a large octagonal-shaped front grille and triangular tail-lamps. A 9.4-inch circular OLED infotainment screen is provided inside the car. The new Cooper S is priced at Rs 42.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
5 series LBW
The BMW 5 Series LBW is being launched with added flair to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LBW. It measures 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,105 mm. The ex-showroom price is expected to be between Rs 73.5 lakh and Rs 78.9 lakh.
MINI Countryman Electric
The new generation Countryman Electric shares its platform with the BMW iX1. Internationally, the Countryman Electric is offered in two powertrain options. Single-motor, front-wheel-drive version 204 bhp, 250 Nm, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version 313 bhp, 494 Nm. Both variants are powered by a 66.45 kWh battery. Range is offered at 462 km for the single motor and 433 km for the dual motor versions. Currently, the petrol MINI Countryman is available in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 48.10 lakh. The electric version will cost more.
