NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a Class 9 student was arrested for stealing the gold ornaments of his mother. During the interrogation, the boy confessed to the police that he stole his mother's jewellery as he needed money to gift an iPhone to his girlfriend on her birthday.
On August 3, the housewife from Najafgarh approached the police with the complaint that her jewellery had gone missing. According to the complaint, two gold chains, a ring and a pair of earrings were stolen from the house. Although the police checked the CCTV footage from the area, they were not able to find anything suspicious. Neighbours also said they did not notice anything suspicious in the area.
With this, the police concluded that the theft was committed by someone in the woman's family. Meanwhile, the police learnt that the woman's elder son had been missing since the day of the burglary. The police then questioned the boy's friends and discovered that the boy had recently bought a new phone for Rs 50,000. The police searched for the boy, but they could not find him.
Later, the police received the information that the boy was coming back to his home. The police team closely monitored the house and nabbed the boy soon after he reached home. Although the child first denied stealing anything, he admitted to the crime during a detailed questioning.
The police have arrested the jewellery shop owner who bought the gold from the boy. The boy told the police that though he had asked his mother for money, she did not give him the money citing financial difficulties.
