24-hours since girl went missing, auto drivers in Kanyakumari see girl; police to search in beach area

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An extensive search will be conducted for the 13-year-old Assamese girl, who went missing from Kazhakoottam area. It has been 24 hours since the girl went missing. After receiving information that the girl boarded a train and reached Kanyakumari, the Kerala Police has started an investigation in Tamil Nadu. Auto drivers in Kanyakumari said that they saw the girl. The Railway Protection Force then checked six platforms, trains and the station premises at Kanyakumari railway station.


The information received was that the child was seen standing outside the station at 5.30 am. The Tamil Nadu Police handed over the girl's photo to the Kanyakumari Autorickshaw Association. A search started at 4 am under the leadership of Kanyakumari DySP. The present search is based on the possibility of the girl going to the beach area.

The Tamil Nadu Police is also examining the CCTV footage of these areas. The four members of the Kerala Police team are conducting searches at various places. As the boy's brother is in Chennai, the investigation has also been extended there. The police have sought information after talking to her brother.


The girl missing is Thasmin Beegum, eldest daughter of Anwar Hussain, living in a rented house near St Antony's School in Kazhakoottam. The girl left the house when her mother scolded her for quarrelling with her siblings. The police received information that the girl travelled in Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express and was in the train till Parassala. Babita, a passenger of the train had captured her photo after seeing her crying. The police came to the conclusion that she may have gone to Kanyakumari after identifying her photo.
