Girl found dead in pond in Thevakkal: Investigation underway

KOCHI: A tragic incident occurred in Thevakkal where 19-year-old Amrita Surendran, daughter of Surendran from Kangarapadi Kaniyath House, was found dead in a pond. According to her parents, Amrita was studying in her room until midnight on Sunday before she went missing. Her shoe was found near the municipal pool below their residence during the search.

The police and fire force were alerted and the fire brigade recovered her body from the pond at 6 am. The body has been sent to Kalamassery Medical College for a post-mortem examination. Amrita was a BBA student at Edathala MES College. She is survived by her mother Shyamala and her brother Atul Surendran.

Malayali nurse dies suddenly in the UK

London: Sonny Sarah Ipe, a 39-year-old Malayali nurse, has died suddenly in the UK. Sarah, originally from Kottayam Chingavanam, had recently returned to the UK after a holiday and leg surgery in her home country. She was employed at Redditch Alexandra NHS Hospital in Worcestershire.

Sarah collapsed shortly after her return to the UK and despite emergency medical intervention, she could not be revived. She is survived by her husband Anil Cherian and their children, Leah and Louis.
