VISAKHAPATNAM: Putting an end to 37 hours of despair and uncertainty, the missing girl from Kazhakuttam was found in Visakhapatnam during late night hours of Wednesday. The members of the Malayali association in the area already received a tip-off about the girl being on a train heading towards West Bengal. When the train reached the station, the members rummaged through every compartment and saw the girl sleeping on a berth. It is reported that the girl boarded the train from Tambaram in Chennai.

Assam native Anwar Hussain's daughter Tasmeedh Begum has been missing since Tuesday morning. Earlier on Wednesday, some autorickshaw drivers had informed police about seeing the girl in Kanyakumari. The girl had only Rs 50 with her and it remains a mystery how she managed to travel from Kazhakuttam to Vizag in Andhra Pradesh with this meagre amount.

The footage of the child getting off the train at the Chennai station was received in the evening. The footage of the child walking through the platform with a bottle of water was on the station's CCTV. A five-member team of Kerala Police left for Chennai. Yesterday, the police revealed that there is a possibility that the child may have boarded the train from Chennai to Assam.

The girl reached Kanyakumari from Thiruvananthapuram by Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express. From there she reached Chennai by Egmore Express. Frequent travelling in a general compartment with family had made the girl adapt to the rough conditions of train travel.

The girl is fluent only in Assamese and is facing difficulty answering the questions from officials. She will soon be taken to the RPF room. It is known that the girl was skint and only had some water since Wednesday morning. The officials will first serve food to the girl and will try to bring her into a relaxed state.

More details about her travel will only obtained later after detailed questioning.

Earlier on Tuesday, Tasmeedh received a dressing down from her mother for quarrelling with neighbouring children. In a rage over getting scolded, Tasmeedh left the house. However, the family smelled something wrong after Tasmeedh failed to return home even after hours. It is doubted that Tasmeedh left her house with a bag full of her clothes. It was just one month before that the girl reached the capital city of Kerala.
