Couple killed in accident in Kottayam

KOTTAYAM: A couple met with an accident at Manipuzha on MC road in Kottayam. The couple died after a pick-up van hit their scooter. The dead have been identified as Manoj P S (49) of Puthenparambu at Moolamattom in Kottayam and his wife Prasanna.

Manoj had worked in district hospital and Nattakam primary health center.

The body of Manoj is kept in district general hospital and his wife in medical college hospital.

The accident happened near Kottayam Manipuzha Civil Supplies Corporation pump around 3.30 pm on Tuesday.

After filling petrol from the pump, when they were entering the road on their scooter, a pick-up which came at a high speed from the opposite direction, hit their scooter. The scooter and the two immediately fell on the road. An ambulance that came that way, carried the two to the hospital but their lives could not be saved. Transportation was disrupted for half an hour following the accident.
