This post is based on the developments that the Malayalam film industry is currently facing. The organizational method is that the organization and leadership of the actors react to it first. I waited this long because I believe that as a member I should comment only after such official responses. Cinema is a cross-section of society. All the good and bad in society are there in the movie industry too. The film industry is something that the society pays close attention to. Therefore, all the small and big things that happen there will be a big discussion. Filmmakers need to be careful and vigilant so that nothing untoward happens in this area. The Justice Hema Committee was formed by the government to study the film industry and prepare a report to suggest solutions and recommend measures after something happened that should never have happened. I wholeheartedly welcome and support the recommendations and solutions outlined in that report. It is high time that all associations in the film industry join hands without distinction to implement them. The police investigation is proceeding vigorously on the complaints that have been raised. The full version of the Justice Hema committee report is before the court. Let the police conduct an honest investigation. Let the court decide the punishments. There is no 'power centre' in cinema. Cinema is not an arena where such things can exist. I request that the practical recommendations of the Justice Hema Committee report be implemented and necessary legislation be enacted if there are any legal hurdles. Ultimately the film industry must survive.
