KALPETTA: Shruti took one last look at Jenson, who had died leaving behind stories of tears. A burning question followed. 'Ichayan, will you take me with you?' The whole hospital came to a standstill. The doctors worked hard to wipe Shruti's tears. Meanwhile, Shruti asked the doctors one more thing. "Will you ask everyone to walk out and allow just us here for a while?"
It was a question that no one could answer. Shruthi's condition worsened when Jenson passed. She broke down into tears losing control. Shruti's last look at Jenson was at the emergency department of the Kalpetta Leo Hospital where Shruti is undergoing treatment.
People's representatives including T Siddique MLA were also present at the spot. Shruti had seen Jensen's body on Wednesday night. At around 11 pm, the body was taken to a private medical college in Meppadi in an ambulance from Leo Hospital in Kalpetta where Shruthi is undergoing treatment. Shruthi's relatives had told her that Jenson was resting after the surgery. When Shruthi was brought to the side of the body lying in the emergency department, Shruti grabbed Jenson's hand and realised that her loved one was no longer with her. It was a cold, frozen hand.
Later, when Shruti faced health issues including shortness of breath, she was taken to Leo Hospital after being monitored for half an hour at a private medical college in Meppadi.
Shruti expressed her desire to see Jenson's body once again and was given an opportunity. The body was kept for public viewing at the medical college hospital for some time. Shruti's other relatives, who are undergoing treatment at the hospital, also paid their last respects.
To Shruti one last time
The body was taken to Leo Hospital in Kalpetta after post-mortem at Sultan Bathery Taluk Hospital. Shruti, who sustained injuries on both her legs, was shifted from the post-operative ward to the emergency department around 12.45 pm. As a precautionary measure, all arrangements were made in the ICU under the leadership of doctors.
The ambulance reached the hospital by 1 pm. Jenson's body, which was taken out of the ambulance, was brought to Shruti. Shruthi was earlier given counselling under the leadership of the hospital's managing director Dr TPV Surendran. The doctors gave her the strength to face anything. She was also supplemented by the mental strength that Jenson had given her all these days.
