IDUKKI: Three employees of the Kattappana Rural Development Cooperative Society have been suspended in connection with the suicide of depositor Sabu. The suspended employees are Bank Secretary Reji Abraham, Senior Clerk Sujamol Jose and Junior Clerk Binoy Thomas.

Sabu was found hanging on December 20 in front of the Kattappana Rural Development Cooperative Society. A suicide note recovered from his pocket named Reji Abraham, Sujamol Jose, and Binoy Thomas as responsible for his death. The incident also drew sharp criticism from Sabu’s family against the society. The controversy deepened after an audio clip surfaced, allegedly featuring the society’s former president, VR Saji. In the recording, Saji was heard defending the accused employees and issuing threats to Sabu. This revelation sparked widespread protests, amplifying public outrage.

Although five days have passed since Sabu Thomas’s suicide, the investigation team has yet to charge the accused with abetment to suicide. The investigation team is recording the statements of employees of the Kattappana Rural Cooperative Society. However, the investigating officials have not yet recorded the statement of VR Saji. The investigation is being conducted by a nine-member team led by Kattappana ASP Rajesh Kumar. District Police Chief TK Vishnu Pradeep confirmed that CCTV footage related to the incident has been collected, and further evidence is being gathered as part of the ongoing investigation.
